Congratulations to Tom Fawcett & Michael Redlicki from the Chicago District.

In the Men's Collegiate Invite US Open final Saturday, Tom Fawcett of Stanford defeated Michael Redlicki of Arkansas, 7-6 (4), 6-7.  Since 2014, a collegiate invitational featuring the 16 top college players has been held during the U.S. Open.

Fawcett, a rising senior for the Cardinal, was the Pac-12 Player of the Year and an All-American last year, when he ended the year ranked No. 11 in singles. Redlicki, a native of Chicago, won the singles title at the ITA/USTA National Indoor Championships.

No prize money is attached to the events, but there is a reward. Tom will receive a main-draw wild card into the 2018 US Open should he be ranked inside the world's Top 120 by next year's entry deadline, as well as three wild cards into USTA Pro Circuit events. That equates to a minimum of $8,000 for a first-round appearance in the qualifying rounds or $50,000 for a first-round appearance in the main draw.

A little bit of recent history was made this year: no player representing any of the last four institutions remaining in the draw has won the Collegiate Invitational since it was established in 2014.
