Teams Needed for the World Team Tennis Junior Qualifier February 16-17, 2019

As we head into Fall/Winter, we will once again have our World Team Tennis Jr. Qualifier Event for the Midwest Section on February 16-17, 2019 here in Indianapolis. We are looking for 8 teams to make this event a success but will increase to 12 if we have great interest.  We had (3) teams two years ago, (5) teams last year, so I am hoping 8 or more is a possibility.  The only requirement for teams is that they are 3 boys and 3 girls, none of which are ranked in the top 150 nationally at the registration deadline and are high school age eligible.    Other than that, I would think it would possible for each of you to find 3 boys and 3 girls to field a team to come to Indy and try to win and advance to WTT Nationals in California, in which the USTA Midwest Tennis and Education Foundation provides a $6,000 stipend to help the team travel out West.

To give you an idea of the players who have played this event in the past, the average Jr. NTRP team rating is around 3.9-4.0, so please keep that in mind if trying to put a team together.

You do not have to host a local playoff or any additional events for the team to come to the sectional qualifier, it’s as simple as putting a team together and coming on over to Indy.  The Wisconsin district does have a playoff as they have many teams who support this and compete for the chance to represent the district here at sectionals and I would love to see that one day across all districts, but currently, if you can put a team of 3 boys and 3 girls together, you can play in this event.

The flyer is below with all the details of the event. The World Team Tennis Format that is used for our qualifier event and at the national event should you have any questions from coaches or players.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I appreciate your help in trying to get a team together from your district to come down and play.
